Rhe's Bookshelf #1: Couples Who Pray

My latest book review, courtesy of Book Sneeze, is an amazing book called Couples who Pray. I honestly didn't really have any idea what the book was going to be like, like a how-to, or a Bible-study like, I wasn't sure. When I read about the book initially there were a lot of very recognizable names that participated in this wonderful book, like Donna Summer and her husband, Pauletta and Denzel Washington, Kathie Lee and Frank Gifford. Not only is it a wonderful concept, praying with your spouse, but the book offers some amazing insight into men and women. The way this amazing couple writes and explains how men and women think is wonderful and I'm all for improving communication. I know that is something that we have struggled with, especially with being so busy. And women need those little touches, the squeeze of the hand, the gentle kiss, those little nothings that brought you to the point of love, and in our case, marriage. I mean, who among us doesn't think about how you felt when you were dating, the butterflies and the gushing, and doesn't want to feel that way now. I know I have and do all the time. And sometimes, life gets in the way. We have two beautiful children and boy, do they put a cramp in my dating style, LOL! I mean, I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. This book talks about the novel idea of praying together and how it can improve your relationship. If you google search this idea you will discover many studies and other books written about this subject. Praying is such an intimate thing, so it only stands to reason it could improve the intimate relationship between you and your mate. I highly recommend this book! I completely enjoyed reading it and I read it in only a couple hours. It is a wonderful addition to your reading, your devotion and Bible Study. The only negative thing that I could say was there was a whole of God and Christ and the whole idea of Him answering prayer, and necessarily Christian sentiments portrayed in the book. To me, this was self-explanatory and I think I just assumed a lot of that as I was reading, based on where I am coming from. Although I could see those that do not have a Christian foundation wouldn't assume that. Although in some people's eyes this could be a very bad thing, I guess it would make the book more available to many different religious affiliations, or non-religious people. This may be disconcerting to some, this however, didn't affect me and I understand that God is the healer and answer-er of my prayers and its not just me willing these things through this thing called "prayer". I still would recommend this book to people. I really enjoyed reading it.
